Has anyone else reached the stage where it is time to listen back over all your recordings and start deleting? - not just to make space on the hard drive (though that is a good spurious reason to start) but to clear out unused takes, ideas that didn't go anywhere, bad vocals or fluffed lines, even whole songs that you can't use anything from. I've found it quite encouraging - some takes and songs were abandoned and never returned to because they didn't pass muster at the time, it is very rare to find that those have suddenly become 'good' with the passage of time. Those are very easy to delete. Something that inspires you to work at it again is a nice surprise. Also, the hard drive never lies - it tells you how much time you put into various takes, how long you spent working on something. It can't tell you whether the effort was worthwhile - only your own standards of quality control can do that. So, has anyone else discovered the joy of 'Delete'?
